Obituary for Elizabeth E. Mathews (Schmoll)
Elizabeth Elaine Mathews (née Schmoll), age 89, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
Born October 4, 1925, in Kingston, Pennsylvania, "Betty" moved to Philadelphia after school, then married Fred Mathews and settled in Baltimore. She enjoyed baseball and was a longtime Orioles fan. She also had a great sense of humor, and family was very important to her. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Mathews, her daughter, Nancy Heider, and her son, Frederick P. Mathews.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Kimberly Mathews, her sister Lois Brown, and her brother and sister-in-law Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Schmoll. Elizabeth was a loving grandmother to Kate Mathews-Smith, Kate's husband, Benjamin Smith, Michael Mathews, and Sarah Mathews, and loving great-grandmother to Cooper Smith and Blake Smith.
The family will receive friends at the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc. 7401 Belair Road in Overlea on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10:00am. Interment Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
