Betty Lou Michelman, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2020, in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was born in Baltimore (Raspeburg), Maryland to George and Florence T. (nee Hannemann) Michelmann. She married Edmunde W. Porkorny, but the marriage ended in divorce. Betty Lou worked over 30 years for the Baltimore District and Middle East Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1982. Her position with the Middle East Division provided numerous opportunities for her to travel to many foreign countries, which she enjoyed. Since retirement, she moved to Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and continued to enjoy traveling the U.S. and Europe, playing golf and the hobby of genealogy, authoring two books on her ancestry. Betty Lou is survived by her sister, Rose M. Pipino of Baltimore, MD; her beloved niece, who has been like a daughter, Gale L. Babcock (Bob) of Windermere, FL; a nephew, Barry L. Pipino (Sara) of Kingsville, MD; grand-nieces and grand-nephews and her beloved companion Robert (Bob) J. Gunther. She was predeceased in death by her parents, her brother, George R. Michelman and her nephew, Stephen G. Michelman.

Entombment will be private at Parkwood Cemetery.
