Obituary for Doris May Seward (Newcomer)

Doris May Seward
On Saturday, February 1, 2020, Doris May, (Newcomer) Seward, formerly a long-term resident of Greenbriar community passed away at the age of 93 following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved, cherished, and adored wife and soul-mate of Albert Byrd (Buddy) Seward for 75 years. They met when she was 13 and he was 16; a union and bond sealed for life. A devoted mother of two sons, A. Bruce Seward (Diane) and Michael J. Seward (Vanessa); loving grandmother of A. Brent Seward (Kelly), T. Brook Seward (Dayna), Joseph S. Seward, and Maria Seward. Doris was also a devoted great-grandmother of Ashton, Bryce, McKenna, Brodie, Bristol, Kayleigh, Ray and Layla Seward; dear sister of Charles and David Newcomer.
Doris enjoyed a fun-filled family and social life, and especially dear to her was the 40 plus years that she and Buddy were active members of Crescent Yacht Club in Middle River. She served as First Lady of the club during her husband’s tenure as Commodore. The couple made lasting friendships while cruising up and down the Chesapeake Bay, and into Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York on a series of beautiful power boats.
