Obituary for James Wendell Davenport

On January 26, 2022 James Wendell Davenport passed away. He was a special person to all who knew and loved him and a true friend, frequently reaching out to those he cared about and keeping people connected through the years. He was a wonderful, loving godfather and a constant support in the lives of his godfamily.

Wendell lived with a vibrant energy. He never passed up a cold pint or an opportunity to enjoy a celebratory BCBS Retirees Club luncheon, a bus trip to New York to eat at the Pig’n’Whistle, a ski weekend, a cruise through the Panama Canal, or a ride on a roller coaster at Busch Gardens. He loved these moments nearly as much as he loved regaling friends and family with his stories of them later on. He was an admired leader, teacher, and one-time Lodge Master of the Grand Lodge of the Freemasons of Maryland.

The devoted son of the late James E. Davenport and Mildred (nee Thorne) Davenport, he is survived by his goddaughter and numerous loving cousins, friends, and fellow masons.
