Obituary for Kathleen Mary Akins (Durkin)
Ms. Kathleen Mary Akins (nee Durkin) born on August 12, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away suddenly at the age of 72 on January 18, 2022 at her home in Baldwin, Maryland.
Kathy was the beloved daughter of the late Harold R Durkin and Josephine Durkin-Deibel; many years a loving partner with Dave Tyransky; and the loving mother of Brent and Brandan Akins.
She is survived by her partner and sons; her daughters in-law Jamie Akins and Jennifer Akins; her brother Sean Durkin; her nephew Michael Durkin; her Uncle James Durkin; and her grandchildren Mackenzie Natale (nee Akins) and Colin Akins, and Ryan and Cole Akins.
Kathy graduated from Overlea Senior High School in 1967 attending elementary school at St Michael’s Catholic School in Overlea.
She worked professionally many years for AAI, Inc in Cockeysville, MD and for Gichner Systems International in York, PA, from which she retired in 2015. She also provided many years of supportive service to her beloved mother, Josephine Deibel, who passed away in 2009.
She loved football, time on and near the water - especially in Ocean City, MD, and socializing with her family and many friends.
