Obituary for Leroy George "Pop" Klein Sr.
On April 28, 2021 Leroy “Pop” George Klein, Sr. passed away. He is the beloved husband for 45 years to the late Joan (Bayley) Klein; devoted father of Leroy “Roy” G. Klein, Jr. and his wife Sheri and Trish Giannaccini and her partner Milindi Stifler; loving grandfather of Tish Klein, Noel Klein, Patrick Giannaccini, Luke Klein and the late Katie Klein; dear son of the late George J. Klein and the late Margaret (nee Fitch) Klein; cherished brother of the late Doris Hauer, Linda Herring, Roland Klein, and Nancy Klein; he is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Pop began his career with Black and Decker at the age of 19 and worked for them for 23 years as a Heat Treater. He then continued his career with Baltimore County Highways for 28 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He worked tirelessly part time in landscaping and security for many years as well. In later years Pop enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with his family and attending many family functions together.
The family will receive friends at the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc. 7401 Belair Road in Overlea on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 3-5 & 7-9pm. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ursula Catholic Church 8801 Harford Road on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10am. Interment Parkwood Cemetery.
