Obituary for Lorraine Mary Dietsch (Gutowski)

Lorraine “Rainey” Dietsch, age 90, a former resident of Baltimore, Maryland, and resident of Mangum, Oklahoma, departed her earthly home to be with the Lord on March 16, 2023, at The Courtyards at Magnolia Creek in Mangum, Oklahoma.

Rainey was born to Martin Gutowski and Jeanette (Kowalski) Gutowski on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland. In her neighborhood of Highland Town, she grew up with her brothers and sisters while attending Patterson schools of Baltimore. She later graduated from Patterson High School.

Soon after high school, Rainey met her husband Herman Dietsch while hanging out on the marble steps in front of her parent's rowhouse in Baltimore. It was love at first sight and they joined together in marriage on September 20, 1952, at the Scarred Heart of Jesus Church in Baltimore. They spent 60 happy years together until his passing in 2013. During their years together, they had two beautiful daughters who they raised in a loving and godly home. After his passing, seven years later she moved to Mangum, Oklahoma. Rainey now meets her love Herman again at the gates of Heaven, together again.

Rainey dedicated her heart to her Lord. She loved attending Church. She was an active member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Rosedale, Maryland. Rainey was a prayer warrior, ready to keep those who needed it in her thoughts and prayers. She was loving and generous to everyone she met, always being the first to greet a new neighbor. She absolutely adored children and animals, playing with them as often as possible. She had a green thumb and showed it by her love of gardening. She took care of her husband, often working with him in the optical business. Most of all, Rainey loved her family. She loved taking care of them by taking care of the home. She loved to tell jokes and put smiles on the faces of those around her. If you were ever with Rainey, you knew you were going to leave with a smile! Rainey is preceded in death by her parents Marty Gutowski and Jeanette (Kowalski) Gutowski; husband Herman Dietsch; brother Martin Gutowski Jr.; and brothers-in-law Ramon Olender, Edward Dietsch, Will Ermer, and wife Catherine.

Left to remember Rainey are her daughters Sharon Hood and husband Tom, Susan Gelner, and husband J.R; sisters, Dolly Olender, Janet Smith and husband Tom; Brother, Wayne Gutowski; grandkids Wesley Gelner and wife Ashley, Jacob Gelner and wife Makenna, Thomas Hood and wife Cassandra, Andrew Hood and wife Alexandra, Willam Hood, and Colleen; great-grandkids, Kash and Kross Gelner; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, neighbors, and friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Memorials May be Made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The Dietsch - Gelner family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Greer Funeral Home, Mangum, Oklahoma.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2023, at Our Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mangum, Oklahoma.

Loraine Mary Dietsch will be returning home to her beloved Baltimore to be laid to rest next to her husband Herman Dietsch in Parkwood Cemetery.

A visitation will be 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc. (Overlea), 7401 Belair Road, Nottingham, MD 21236.

Graveside services will follow the visitation and Christian burial rights will be observed at Parkwood Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland at 2:30 pm.
