Obituary for Mary Louise Enlow (Ward)

Mary Louise Ward Enlow, 100, of Baltimore, MD, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2019.
Born on May 22, 1919 in Crystal Spring, WVA, she was preceded in death by her mother, Harriett C. Triplett Ward; father, Ray Ward; her loving husband, Lawrence Ellsworth Enlow; four sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Sondra Thornburg (Don), her son, Craig Enlow (Lynn); five grandchildren, Kelly Thornburg, Amy York (Gary), Darrin Enlow, Dana Enlow and Todd Enlow (Jaime); six great grandchildren, Luc Oberholzer, Andrew Oberholzer, Morgan Enlow, Collin Enlow, Matthew Enlow, Natalie Enlow and many loving and dear nieces, nephews and friends. Mary graduated from Elkins High School in 1937 and Richmond Business College in 1939. She worked in real estate and insurance offices in Richmond, VA, Elkins, WVA and Washington, D.C. prior to coming to Baltimore. She married Lawrence Ellsworth Enlow on May 31, 1941 in Portsmouth, VA by her brother-in-law, Reverend Walter W. White and they resided in Baltimore for the remainder of their lives. She worked for Baltimore County School System prior to working at several department stores in Baltimore County. Mary grew up in Elkins, WVA and attended Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church there, Porter Street Presbyterian Church in Richmond, VA and later joined Kenwood Presbyterian Church in Baltimore in 1955. She was very active in church and held numerous church offices including Elder, President of the Women of the Church, Circle leader, Elder Emeritus. She had a deep faith and her church and family were her greatest joys, as well as her love for the Baltimore Orioles. There wasn’t a game that she didn’t watch or listen to. A highlight of her 100 years was being asked by the Orioles organization to throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Orioles game on her 100th birthday this past May. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, neighbor and friend. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Lassahn Funeral Home,Inc. 7401 Belair Road in Overlea. A funeral service will be at Kenwood Presbyterian Church, 4601 Fullerton Avenue on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11:30am, followed by a reception. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kenwood Presbyterian Church, 4601 Fullerton Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21236 or a charity of your choice.
