MARY ANN (ZAWADZKI) ZMUDA

Mary Ann Zmuda, 90, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away March 28, 2021, at Stella Maris in Lutherville, Maryland. She is survived by her son, Gene (Kathy) Zmuda, daughters, Kathy (Nick) Rescigno and Nancy (Andy) Brocki; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Eric) Martin, Robert Rescigno, Maria (Patrick Byrne) Rescigno, Michael (Christine) Zmuda, Olivia Schleicher, Heather Schleicher and Grant Schleicher; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol Zawadzki; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Zmuda, and sisters, Florence Rody and Eileen Conrad and brother, Norbert Zawadzki. There is no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a date to be determined. Memorial donations may be made in her name payable to Saint Matthew Parish (formerly Holy Spirit Church), 608 Farragut Street, Millvale, PA 15209.

Mary Ann was born August 15, 1930 on Polish Hill in Pittsburgh and raised in Bloomfield. She was a 1948 graduate of Schenley High School. She was a homemaker for many years returning to work as a bookkeeper when her son was in college. Her husband, Eugene died on June 22, 1983 at age 54. Mary Ann could knit, crochet and sew. She knitted and crocheted afghans, sweaters, hats and mittens for friends and family. Barbie and American Girl dolls had extensive wardrobes of knitted and machine sewn items as well. She enjoyed playing cards with high school friends and family. In her retirement years she enjoyed evenings on her back porch, reading, listening to music, card parties, bus trips, bowling, bingo, activities at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Millvale, PA, get-togethers with AARP groups and events at the Senior Community Center, Lawrenceville, PA.
