On April 26, 2011, Alice May Bond Lassiter Heare, wife of Loy Heare and the late Thomas E. Lassiter, Sr. Dear daughter of the late Ellery E. Bond and Rose I. Bond (nee Marshall). Cherished mother of Thomas E. Lassiter, Jr. and his wife, Sara; Janet L. Dent; David E. Lassiter and his wife, Judy; Diane E. Bradfield and her husband, Butch; Linda Jo Addington and her husband, Len; Susan C. Grasham; and Robert S. Lassiter and his wife, Pam. Beloved grandmother of Thomas Lassiter, III, Andrew Lassiter, Steven Lassiter, Katherine Lassiter Fortney, John Dent, Jr., Kelli Dent Moss, David Lassiter, Jr., Gregory Lassiter, Christopher Lassiter, Amy Bradfield Bowie, Kristy Bradfield Furst, Shelley Bradfield, Julie Bradfield Taylor, Jason Bradfield, Daniel Addington, Rebecca Addington, Katie Addington, Stacie Lassiter Prine, and Kimberly Lassiter Gilley. Loving great grandmother of Kayla, Colin, Miranda, Deanna, Jordan, Keegan, Tara, Ryan, Nathan, Johnathan, Jack, Alexis, Joey, Jason Connor, Delaney, Logan, Brooke, Paige, and Kelsey. Loving sister of Earl B. Bond. Beloved mother-in-law of Ann Darney Lassiter.
Alice May Bond was born on November 28, 1925 in Kingsville, MD. She was a 1942 graduate of Kenwood High School and worked at Edgewood Arsenal during the early days of World War II. She married Thomas E. Lassiter, Sr. in 1943 and during their 29 years of marriage, she raised their seven children in a number of locations, including New Mexico and North Carolina, before the family returned to her ancestral home in Kingsville. During the 1960’s, she began working part time for the Baltimore County Public Library and after a career of many years, retired as a supervisor. She was a lifelong member of Fork Christian Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered her services. She enjoyed being a part of the Alzheimer’s Support Group, AARP lunch group, Bowling Seniors and participated until her illness in December 2010. A lifelong letter writer, she used her talents to correspond with extended family members and friends from all parts of the country and was actively doing so until her illness. Her love of books and reading led to her career at the library. The family was blessed with the spirit of MeeMaw for 85 years.
Visiting at the Fork Christian Church, 6806 Sunshine Avenue, in Kingsville, on Thursday 7:00-9:00 pm and Friday 3:00-5:00 & 7:00-9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am. Interment Fork Christian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fork Christian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 55, Fork, MD 21051.
