Andrew Michael Makowiecki Sr.

Andrew Michael Makowiecki, Sr., age 84, of Overlea, MD, went home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2024. Andrew was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend. He graduated from Patterson High School of Baltimore, worked for First National Bank, then was drafted into the Army, where he spent two years stationed in Fort Bragg, NC. His professional career as a computer scientist started at the Central Intelligence Agency and led him to the National Security Agency where he retired after thirty years, then worked for Northrup Grumman as a contractor for the Federal Government. While raising his two sons, he found joy in being both a Boy Scout Leader and Soccer Coach. He was a long-standing member of the St. Michael Parish in Overlea, where he volunteered as a member of the Parish Council Finance Committee. He was proud to be a former member of the Baltimore Colt Marching Band, Legionnaire’s Band, Powerhouse Big Band at CCBC, and Middle River Concert Band, and more recently the Boumi Shriners Band and Ain’t Misbehavin’ Big Band, as well as various other bands throughout his life. As both a trumpet and accordion player, his lifelong passion for music was strong.

Andrew is preceded in death by his parents Jerome Sr. and Stella Makowiecki; brothers Jerome Jr. and Thomas Makowiecki, and sisters Constance Stelmack, Mary Jane Devlin, and Lorraine Brown.

Andrew cherished his beloved family and leaves behind his wife of fifty-nine years Geraldine (nee Drzewiecki); his son, Andrew Makowiecki, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Upperco, MD; his son David Makowiecki and his wife Barbara of Abingdon, MD; his three grandchildren, Peyton, Tyler and Katelyn Makowiecki; and many relatives and dear friends.

The family will receive friends at the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc., 7401 Belair Road in Overlea on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 3-7 PM.
