Anne J. Allgire, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully passed away on November 2, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. She shared 59 wonderful years with her devoted husband, Robert L. Allgire, who was by her side through every chapter of her life. Anne’s gentle spirit, endless love, and unwavering support will be forever remembered by her family and friends.


Anne was a devoted mother to Tim Allgire and his wife, Adrienne, whose lives she enriched with her kindness and wisdom. She was the cherished grandmother of Madison and Jack Allgire, who brought her immense joy and pride. Anne also shared a close bond with her sister, Helen Ross, and was predeceased by her brother, Lee Jenkins, her sister, Delores Wehrman, her sister-in-law, Shirley Raver, and brother-in-law, Roy Ross. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her many beloved nieces and nephews, who will carry her memory in their hearts.


Anne dedicated her professional years to Johns Hopkins University Press, where she made lasting contributions before her retirement, and previously worked at Citi Bank in Towson. Beyond her career, Anne's true passions lay with her family and her faith. She was a talented organist, sharing her gift of music with her congregation at Union United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for an inspiring 65 years. Her music uplifted her community, and her dedication was a cherished gift that reflected her deep faith and commitment to serving others.


A graveside service to honor Anne’s life will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Wilson Cemetery of Arnolia Church, located at 4507 Long Green Road in Long Green, MD. Family and friends are welcome to join in remembrance of her gentle spirit and the love she shared.


In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to Union United Methodist Church, 5225 Sweet Air Road, Baldwin, MD 21013. The Allgire family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support they have received during this time.


Anne’s warmth, grace, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves a legacy of compassion and kindness that will live on in the hearts of those she knew.
