Bartholomew “Bardy” B. Matthews, Jr.
BALTIMORE, MD- Our dear and beloved father, grandfather & great-grandfather, Bartholomew B. Matthews Jr, 88, of Baltimore, Md peacefully passed away on March 19, 2014 with his family by his side.
Born November 7, 1925 in Crisfield, Maryland, he was the son of the late Bartholomew Matthews and Naomi Ruth (Nelson). He is the beloved husband of the late Florence (nee Broome) Matthews. Bardy is survived by his two children, Bart Matthews III, his wife Laine, of Levittown, PA, Debby Gregory, her husband Chris of Westminster, MD; his sister, Alma Jane Ward of Baltimore; his 2 grandchildren, Bryan Mosser and wife Michelle, Bel Air, Md; Heather Kessler and her husband Michael, Severna Park, Md; his 3 great-grandchildren, Lily Mosser, Ava Grace Mosser & Nicholas Kessler; his nephew James Ward and niece Jerry Lachapelle; his longtime companion, Katherine Fleishman of Baltimore and many loving friends along his journeys.
He worked for Baltimore County Board of Education and was retired for 41 years. Bardy thoroughly enjoyed his retirement life, he loved traveling and driving the countryside, taking many pictures along the way. Bardy especially loved gardening, collecting model cars, puzzles and feeding birds & squirrels in his backyard. He was a true gentleman and a genuine friend to all he touched.
Until we meet again, although we are apart, your spirit lives within us, forever in our hearts.
The viewing and funeral services will be held at Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc. at 7401 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD. The viewing is Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 5-7 and the funeral service will be on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11am, with burial immediately following at Parkwood Cemetery.
