Carl Allen Stallard, 74, of Baltimore, Maryland and Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away May 17, 2026. Born Sept. 12, 1951, in Annapolis, Maryland, Carl grew up between Annapolis, Hereford and Baltimore and graduated from Kenwood High School in 1969.
Carl’s life revolved around the water — and making people laugh. He began working at Beacon Light Marina at 16 with his “bonus” father, Mark Bensinger, and built a lifetime of memories there, rising through the ranks and ultimately owning the marina until his retirement and sale to a longtime friend. A hard worker, shrewd businessman, and always planning his next adventure, Carl was happiest boating, fishing, golfing, playing pickleball and softball, skiing, hiking and even canyoneering. He loved glamping, dining out, singing along with Sirius XM Roadhouse, and telling his favorite “How do you catch an elephant?” jokes. If you texted him a photo or idea, you could count on a signature “Cooool” You might even hear him mutter “Ooh...Wow!”
He was fiercely loyal, athletic, protective, and—despite protestations—secretly soft for kids and family. Carl cherished being “Popi” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and delighted in every noisy family gathering. He was a beloved and faithful friend!
Carl is survived by his wife, Gina Stock Stallard; his daughter Tina Stallard Hartman (and son-in-law Chris Hartman); grandchildren Isabella and Kellan Hartman, Emma & Kody Baxter, Eleyna & Isaac Howard, Julia & Josh Jewell; great-grandchildren Benson, Calvin, Eden, Sebastian Howard, and Joseph Jewell; stepchildren Gabriel Stock and Deborah & Bobby Hess and their children, Kellan & Bryson; Gina, Greyson, and Penelope. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl C. Stallard and Laura J. Silak and siblings Vivien, William, and Phyllis, and grand daughter Briella
We’ll remember Carl for his infectious laugh, his competitive streak on any field or fairway, his practical wisdom, and the way he made ordinary days feel like an outing. The family suggests that you tell a joke, take someone golfing or fishing, or hum along to a Roadhouse tune in his honor. Cooool.
