Carolyn Jean Conkel

On November 18, 2025, Carolyn Jean (nee Rappold) Conkel passed away peacefully. She was the beloved wife of the late James W. Conkel, Sr. Loving daughter of the late Betty and Russell Rappold. Devoted mother of James Conkel, Jr. and his wife Jan, Stephen Conkel and his wife Kim, and Lisa Doering and her husband Glenn, Jr.; cherished grandmother of Melissa Heaps, Jennifer Doering, Glenn Doering III, Sara Canham, Holly Richardson, Laura Schmidt, Scott Schmidt, Colleen Sophocles, and Gavin Korn; and great-grandmother of Chandler Heaps, John Heaps, Jr., Emma Hostetter, Lucas Canham, Ben Canham, and Leo Sophocles. She was the loving sister of Rick Rappold, and sister-in-law of Lois Donahue, Roger Owens, and the late Mike Conkel, Dottie Caldwell, Anna Lou Samples, Paul Ralph Conkel, and George Bill Conkel. Carolyn is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Carolyn dedicated her time and talents as a volunteer at the Ocean City Marlin Club, where she was honored as Volunteer of the Year. She found joy in gardening, cooking, baking, and basking in the sunshine. Above all, she treasured every moment spent with her family. Carolyn’s warm heart, kind spirit, and ability to create beautiful memories each and every day will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held at the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc., 7401 Belair Road (Overlea) on Friday November 21 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held privately.
