On April 29, 2026, Darlene (née Bopp) Hicks peacefully passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion.

Darlene was the beloved wife of the late David Kevin Hicks, with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a dear sister-in-law to Donald Hicks and his wife Anne, Douglas Hicks and his wife Bonnie, Sally Mills, and Sandi Pipkin and her husband Joseph. She will be deeply missed by her devoted four-legged companion, Laverne, as well as her many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were blessed to know her.

She is reunited in eternal peace with her loving parents, John E. Bopp, Sr. and Virginia S. (née Stormfeltz) Bopp; her sister, Jo-Ann Gover; and her father- and mother-in-law, Donald and Norma (née Roberts) Hicks.

Darlene appreciated the beauty in gardening and had a special passion for rescuing and caring for animals, particularly dogs. She was a dedicated supporter of the Baltimore City SPCA, the Defender of Animal Rights, and the Humane Society of Baltimore County. Together, Darlene and David shared a love for travel, creating treasured memories while visiting the beautiful Caribbean Islands.

Known for her gentle spirit, warm heart, and joyful nature, Darlene brought comfort and happiness to those around her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her love of animals, and the deep connections she formed with family and friends.

A Celebration of Darlene’s Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be private.

In honor of Darlene’s love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Baltimore County Animal Services 13800 Manor Road Baldwin, MD. 21013.
