On March 1, 2025, Donald Ray Peterson passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was the devoted husband of Nancy Carol (née Burrell) Peterson, with whom he shared a beautiful life filled with love and companionship.
Donald was a proud and loving father to Ryan Peterson and his wife Ashley, and Kristin Peterson and her husband Billy. He also embraced his role as a devoted stepfather to Ronald Demory and his wife Connie, Angela Webb and her husband Dustin, and the late Christopher Demory. His heart was especially full as a grandfather to Samarah Peterson and Brennon Peterson and as a cherished step-grandfather to Taylor Six and her husband Caleb, Brock Demory, Christopher Demory, Lily Webb, and Logan Webb. Donald’s joy only grew with the arrival of his step-great-grandchildren, Emma and Avery Hill.
A loving brother to Barbara Carter and her husband Rickey, Donald was also deeply connected to his extended family, including numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Raymond Chester and Margaret Barbara (née Zimmerer) Peterson.
Donald’s passions in life were as vibrant as his spirit. A true Baltimore sports enthusiast, he cheered on the Orioles and Ravens with unwavering dedication. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cruises, music, laughter, and the warmth of family gatherings. His infectious laughter and love for singing could light up any room. He took great pride in maintaining his yard, often found on his tractor, and had an undeniable sweet tooth. Above all, he cherished his role as a grandfather, dedicating his retirement years to being a stay-at-home granddad, a role he embraced with immense love and pride.
Donald also found great enjoyment in television, often binge-watching his favorite shows, and relished the comfort of home surrounded by family. His presence was a source of comfort, his love unwavering, and his memory will forever be held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In accordance with his wishes, funeral services and interment will be held privately. The family kindly requests that tribute gifts in his honor be made to the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center Employee Assistance Fund (www.umms.org/sjmc/giving/donation-form), recognizing his dedicated years as a proud employee and colleague.
During this difficult time, the family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support. Donald’s spirit and the love he shared will remain in our hearts forever.
