It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Edward “Ed” Henry Dietz Jr. on April 18, 2025, at the age of 77 years. Ed was born and raised in Perry Hall, MD, the son of the late Edward Henry Dietz Sr. and the late Alice “Bette” Dietz and brother to the late Thomas Dietz.
He is also survived by his wife Gloria Dietz, his 2 sons, Edward J. Dietz, Kevin B. Dietz and his wife Maggie, his 3 grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew and Benjamin Dietz, who affectionately referred to him as “Pop” and his brother Clifford Dietz. In addition to his immediate family, he is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, whom he always enjoyed spending time with.
At a young age, Ed could be seen helping out on the family farm and working at the “Pop Dietz” stand, a popular produce stand on Belair Road in Perry Hall. As he got older, he took a job as a machinist at Crown Cork and Seal in Baltimore, MD, where he worked for nearly 30 years. After they closed, he worked for a brief time at GAF, a tile manufacturing company and then DAV (Disabled American Veterans) where he drove a truck and picked up donations. He then retired and moved to Harrington, DE with his wife and spent his remaining years enjoying a care free life, spending time with family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A., 11750 Belair Road (Kingsville, MD). All family and friends are welcome to attend from 4:00pm-6:00pm. From 6:00pm to 6:30 pm, those in attendance are welcome to speak and share stories and memories of Ed’s life.
