Elaine Ruth Dochterman, née Bauernfeind, passed away on October 20, 2026.

Elaine was the wife of the late Carl Dochterman and the loving companion of her dog, Joy.

She was the daughter of the late Arnold Peter Bauernfeind Sr. and the late Thelma Anna (née Avig) Bauernfeind. She is survived by her brother, Melvin Bauernfeind Sr., and his partner, Debra Cargile. She was preceded in death by her brother, Arnold Bauernfeind Jr.

Elaine is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Melvin Bauernfeind Jr. and his wife, Beth; Peter Bauernfeind; Carl Bauernfeind and his wife, Jill; Kathy Gregory and her husband, Chad; and Allison Boyd and her husband, Matt. She is also survived by her great-nephew, Kyle Bauernfeind, along with many other family members and friends.

Elaine enjoyed photography and capturing moments and places that caught her eye. She loved to travel and experience new places, making memories along the way. She also had a strong interest in animal rescue and cared about the well-being of animals.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Animal Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 35, Maryland Line, Maryland 21105, in Elaine’s memory.

She will be missed by her family and friends.
