Gayle Alyce Durham (Harper)

On October 26, 2023 Gayle A., (nee Harper) Durham, beloved wife of Donald W. Durham; devoted mother of James Durham, Justin Durham and wife Sara; loving grandmother of Emily, James, Aidan, Olivia and Harper; dear sister of Dean H. Harper and wife Bernie and the late William S. Harper, II and his wife Wenni; sister-in-law of Jean Durham and her husband Richard; she is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews in Canada and the U.S.

Gayle was born in Toronto, Canada, immigrated to the US with her parents and her two brothers and was naturalized as a US citizen in 1963. She graduated from Kenwood H.S. class of ‘64, graduated from Essex community college, married in 1966, and attended Harbarger Business college in Raleigh, N.C. subsequently working in applied Physics dept. at N.C. State while her husband completed his degree.

Gayle worked as a realtor for 20 years in Annapolis with Coldwell Banker and then in Timonium with O’Conner Assoc.

Retirement years were spent residing on the waterfront of Middle River with sons, family, and grandchildren.

Some of her most cherished memories were her childhood years with cousins in the Muskoka Lake region of Canada and later vacations there with our family.

Gayle loved the beach and cooking and enjoyed gardening and boating. In recent years she was interested in ancestry and sharing with relatives in Canada. She adored her pet cats and feeding wildlife at her home. Gayle’s greatest joy was being with her sons and her grandchildren.

The world was a better place with her in it and she will be greatly missed.

Visiting at the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc., 7401 Belair Road in Overlea on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, at which time a memorial service will begin at 5:00pm. Interment will be private.
