Gloria C. Rosenberger (March)

Gloria C. Rosenberger, born on July 15, 1927 to Edna and Aston March, was a gracious, deeply intuitive,

remarkable woman who will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her. She passed away

peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 23, 2021 at the age of 93.

The fourth in a family of five children, Gloria was born in Altoona, PA and moved to Baltimore, MD at a

young age. As a child she had a mischievous streak and much later would love to tell all of her

grandchildren about her madcap adventures, especially the time that she and her sisters sat on their

rooftop yelling out to the whole neighborhood, “Fresh cheese, hot off our toes!” Even though she was

not a model student by any means, she went on to attend Baltimore Business College where acquired

excellent secretarial skills. After graduation, she quickly found employment as a secretary at Martin

Marietta Laboratories where she remained until retirement. She thoroughly enjoyed working with all of

the “crazy scientists” and test pilots, although she never took them up on their many offers to take her

for a spin in one of the planes.

Gloria was a true friend to all those she loved, always jotting down birthdays in her yearly calendars,

always remembering to send a card during holidays. Around outsiders she’d describe herself as being

shy, but she had a knack for always making others comfortable and putting them at ease. She was

deeply invested in her friendships, many of which she formed at a young age and held on to throughout

her whole life.

She loved to sing and could sing alto to any song. She learned how to play ukulele and dabbled with

harmonica. She was a master seamstress, making many of her and her daughter’s clothes growing up.

She loved animals, and even once raised a mockingbird by hand who had flown into her office at Martin

Marietta. She was a collector of all things beautiful, lining her shelves at home with all sorts of colorful

jewels and mementos. She was a girl scout at heart and was always prepared for emergencies. While

she would not say she was devoutly religious, she did attend The Perry Hall Presbyterian Church and was

even asked to become a Deacon there.

She was the ultimate grandmother, Baba Gloria, and it was in this role that all of her many talents shone

the brightest. She adored all of her grandchildren, and on several occasions even traveled halfway

across the world to Russia to see them. She loved nothing more than sharing all of her life stories with

her grandkids and always kept up with whatever they had going on in their lives.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Rosenberger and Viktor Khrolenko; son and

daughter-in-law, Jesse and Beverly Rosenberger; sister Thelma Rappold; grandchildren Natasha

Khrolenko, Demian Khrolenko, Lindsay Conley, and Justin Rosenberger; and great-grandchildren Ryder

and Reese Conley, Sylas and Phoenix Khrolenko, Colette and James Dickey, and Jensen Rosenberger.
