Harold Earl Beegle, age 94, of Parkville, Maryland, passed away peacefully

Friday, January 13, 2017.

Mr. Beegle was born August 24, 1922, in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania to Earl R. and Mary A.

Myers Beegle. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marvine F. Beegle, his sons David G.

Beegle (Kay) of Smyrna, GA and Ronald J. Beegle (Paula) of Rome, GA, three grandchildren,

Caroline P. Beegle, Kathleen A. Beegle and Peter S. Beegle, a brother Samuel G. Beegle, a

sister Betty A. Fasnacht, a brother Richard G. Beegle (Judy), a sister-in-law Miriam M. Huffman,

and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl R. and

Mary A. Myers Beegle, a sister-in-law Shirley D. Beegle and a brother-in-law Richard S.

Fasnacht.

Mr. Beegle was a veteran of World War II, having served under the Army Airwaves

Communication System squadron based in Marrakech and Casablanca, during the occupation

of North Africa from 1943 to 1946. While attending Penn State University after the war, he was

called up in 1950 for service in the Korean War as adjutant and 1st Lt in the 756th

Transportation Railway Shop Battalion until 1952, delaying his graduation in Mechanical

Engineering from Penn State until 1954. After high school and prior to World War II, he got his

start as a machinist apprentice with the railroad.

Mr. Beegle had a successful career in the steel industry with Lukens Steel in Coatesville, PA,

and Bethlehem Steel in the Plate and Flange Mills at the Sparrows Point Plant in Baltimore,

serving as General Foreman of the Flange Mill for ten years and Senior Technology Analyst

prior to his retirement in 1983. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and

Maryland.

Mr. Beegle started out as a mason with the Hiram Lodge No. 616 Free and Accepted Masons in

Altoona, PA in 1947 and received his 32nd degree from the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite

Consistory of Williamsport, PA in 1948. In 2007, he was awarded his 60-year pin from the

Hiram Lodge. He was a member of the Jaffa Shrine Temple of Altoona, PA since 1950. In

1954, he became a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Coatesville Forest #56. Following

his move to Maryland in the early 1960’s, he became an associate member of the Boumi Shrine

Temple in Baltimore, and in 1964 a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Baltimore Forest #45.

From 1997 to 2002, Mr. Beegle was the Tall Cedars Supreme Forest Band Director. Mr. Beegle

was a lifetime member of the Tall Cedars Foundation and the American Federation of

Musicians, Local 21.

Mr. Beegle enjoyed a lifetime of service as a musician in a variety of bands as a trombone

player, including the bands of the Jaffa and Boumi Shrine Temples, the Tall Cedars Forest

bands in Coatesville, PA and Baltimore, MD, and for 50 years in the Middle River Concert Band

in Baltimore, in addition to serving as the national Tall Cedars Supreme Forest Band Director.

He was also a founding member of the Rausmitters German Band, local to the Baltimore area.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to either the Shriners

Hospital for Children, c/o Jaffa Temple or Boumi Temple, or The Tall Cedars Foundation for

Muscular Dystrophy, c/o Baltimore Forest.

He will be laid to rest at Highview Memorial Gardens in Fallston, MD. Lassahn Funeral Home,

Kingsville, MD, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
