With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Henry George Krotee, Jr. on July 12, 2025 at the age of 88. Surrounded by family and cherished memories, Henry left this world with the same warmth and humor that he brought to each and every day of his life.
A lifelong resident of Maryland, Henry was known for his incredible sense of humor, easygoing nature, and ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone. Whether you’d known him for a minute or a lifetime, he always made you feel like an old friend.
Henry was a proud member of Zion UCC Church, IBEW Local 24, and the Brotherhood of the Junglecock—a trout fishing organization that blended his love of the outdoors with his love of tradition. His lifelong dedication to scouting included roles as Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for Pack and Troop 302, where he mentored generations of young people and helped shape their character through adventure, leadership, and service.
He had a passion for collecting and preserving history, particularly through his involvement with the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum. He was an avid collector of decoys, baseball memorabilia, and Peter Herrmann crock pottery. If he wasn’t hunting geese at dawn or casting a line on a quiet stream, you could often find him antiquing, exploring local treasures, or stadium working at Oriole Park at Camden Yards or IronBirds Ripken Stadium.
He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Louise Krotee (nee Clarke); children, Dale Krotee and his wife, Diana and Dawn Robey and her husband Craig; grandchildren, Leah and Elizabeth Krotee, Alexandra and Austin Davidson, Kyle and Sophie Robey and Nathan Robey and Francesca Burton; step-children, Klaus Peter Mitchell II and his wife, Gloria, step-grandchildren Trinity N. Mitchell, Cole S. Mitchell, Julia A. Wingard, Anna M. Wingard and Joseph A. Wingard; step-great-granddaughter, Dakota R. Lannen; and many extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry G. Krotee, Sr. and Ruth Lillian Krotee (nee Herrmann); late sisters and surrogate mothers Lillian Adela Jordan and Josephine Anna Fox.
A service to celebrate Henry’s life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Zion UCC Church (Golden Ring) with visiting from 10 am- 12 noon. The memorial service will begin at 12 noon. Interment Zion UCC Cemetery. In keeping with his generous heart, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum or Zion UCC Church, in his memory.
Though his time with us feels far too short, Henry filled his days with joy, laughter, and love. His legacy will live on in the stories he shared, the lives he touched, and the memories we’ll carry forward—forever etched in our hearts.
