On February 23, 2025 Jesse Eugene Appel passed away. Jesse was a beloved husband to the late Carolyn Louise (née Ulrich) Appel for 67 cherished years, a caring father, and a treasured grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jesse’s love extended to every branch of his family. He is survived by his devoted children: Donald Appel; Debra Watson, along with her husband Pastor David Watson; and David Appel, with his wife JoAnne. His caring spirit touched the lives of his grandchildren—Kelly Mlynski and her husband John; Kathryn Sarcone and her husband Frank; James Paul Appel; Catherine Nehrebecki and her husband Robert; Sarah Watson; Marilyn Eyler and her husband Austin; Luke Appel; John Henry Appel and his wife Jenna; and Benjamin Watson. His legacy continued through his great-grandchildren: Jackson, Davis, and Emma Mlynski; Elijah, Everett, and Ellory Sarcone; Owen, Atticus, Eleanor, and Ivy Nehrebecki; Ronni, Davy Jo, and Eugene Eyler. Jesse was also a devoted brother to Gloria McCrane, Joyce Letke, Moselle Freund, the late John Appel, Luther Appel, and Hillary Appel, and he is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Jesse was an avid gardener, skilled electronic technician, carpenter, mechanic and repairman extraordinaire. If you spent time with him, it would be rare for you to leave that visit without learning something that you did not already know. He delighted in passing on skills, history, and information to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a natural teacher with a wonderful sense of humor that shone brightest when he told stories about his life.
