Joan Lee Becker (Devon)

On December 6, 2022, Joan Lee, (nee Devon) Becker, 91, peacefully departed this life in Parkville. Joan was born November 13, 1931 in Baltimore, the daughter of the late Irene H. and John J. Devon.

She was proud of her upbringing in Highlandtown where she learned the importance of family, friends and caring for others. She became an active church member… first at Luther Memorial Church on Eastern Avenue and later at Epiphany Lutheran Church, the” God is Love” church in Baltimore. She was a loving Christian always visible not only at worship but at Vacation Bible School, Church plays, dinners… you name it and Joan was there laughing and making others laugh. She truly lived a Christ centered life and followed the path that God had laid for her.

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, John Carl Becker, Jr. and daughter-in-law Brenda Gerstl Becker, and is survived by her children Douglas and Kathy Becker and David and Karen Becker. Joan dearly loved her four grandchildren, Lindsay and husband Caleb, Richard and wife Anya, Lauren and fiancé Brett. Kelly and husband Jack and four great-grandchildren, Owen, Garrett, Evan and Victoria. She was predeceased by her brother Donald Devon. Whether you knew her as my friend Joan, Miss Joan, Aunt Joan, Gigi, Grandmom, or Mom, your life was truly blessed by having her part of it. She just made life better for everyone she touched.

Family and friends will treasure the memory of her smile, her spirit, her appreciation for others, and her ability to listen and provide advice to those in need.

The family will receive friends at the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc., 7401 Belair Road in Overlea on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 12:00pm till 3:00pm at which time a memorial service will begin at 3:00pm. Interment will be private.
