On July 11, 2026, John Joseph Hannan passed away peacefully after a courageous journey with glioblastoma.
John was the beloved husband of Carol Ann (née Cumberland) Hannan and was survived by his daughter Beth Ann Rimmels of New York. He was a loving stepfather to Gregory McVey and his wife, Maria, and Bryan McVey. John was the cherished "Papa" of Megan McVey Myers and her husband, John, whose lives were enriched by his love, guidance, and gentle presence.
He was the beloved son of the late William H. Hannan, Sr. and Helen Marie (née Schuch) Hannan. John was a caring brother to Donna Schnepf and was preceded in death by his siblings Patrick, William H. Hannan, Jr., Albert Hannan, Barbara Hannan, Michael Hannan, Mary Rita Hannan, and Paul Hannan. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Raised in East Baltimore, John was a proud graduate of St. Wenceslaus School, Calvert Hall College High School, and the University of Baltimore and attended Belmont Abbey College. His professional career led him to Houston, Texas, where he lived for twenty-eight years and enjoyed a successful career in marketing, serving in executive leadership roles, including Vice President of Igloo Corporation.
John will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, unwavering dedication to his family, and the friendships he cultivated throughout his life. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and enduring love for those closest to him will remain a treasured legacy for all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of John's life at the E. F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A., 11750 Belair Road, Kingsville, on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Bradshaw, on Friday, July 17,2026 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Highview Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church or St. Stephen School, Bradshaw (www.ssparish.org).
