On November 6, 2026, John “Jack” Edward Murphy passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, love, and devotion to his family and community.
Jack was the beloved husband of the late Marianne (nee Smith) Murphy; a devoted and loving father of Kathryn and Julie Murphy; and a dear brother of Frank Murphy of Michigan and Bill Murphy of New Jersey. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members, including his dear in-laws. Jack was predeceased by his loving parents, Francis Murphy and Irene (nee King) Murphy, and his sister, Rosemary Martha Taylor.
Jack was a man of kindness, dedication, and a wonderful sense of humor. He treasured his family, valued his friendships, and found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a special gift for bringing smiles to those around him, often sharing one of his famous “Dad jokes” at just the right moment. His playful spirit was even reflected in his wardrobe, particularly his memorable tie featuring a flock of white sheep with one lone black sheep. The tie became a beloved conversation piece at weddings and family gatherings, bringing laughter and smiles wherever he wore it. It was just one of the many little things that made Jack so special and endeared him to those who knew and loved him.
Jack was a longtime and dedicated member of the Emerald Isle Club, where he generously shared his time and talents, serving on the Board of Directors as both Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Long Green Chapter. His involvement in these organizations reflected his strong sense of community, fellowship, and willingness to serve others.
An avid reader and history enthusiast, Jack had a curious mind and a genuine appreciation for learning. He enjoyed exploring the stories of the past, keeping active through his workouts at the YMCA, and spending time with family and friends. Whether sharing an interesting piece of history, offering a clever joke, or simply enjoying a conversation, Jack had a way of making ordinary moments memorable.
Above all, Jack will be remembered for his love of family, his warm and welcoming personality, his gentle humor, and the many wonderful memories he created throughout his life. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and happiness to those fortunate enough to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, the love he shared and the joy he brought to others will remain in their hearts forever.
The family will receive friends at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A., 11750 Belair Road in Kingsville, on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), helping to provide hope, care, and support to children and families facing serious illness.
Jack's family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the many prayers, expressions of love, acts of kindness, and comforting support extended to them during this difficult time.
Jack will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
