On July 23, 2025, Joseph Mario D’Onofrio, Jr. peacefully passed away, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of 54 years to Geraldine Susannah (nee Winter) D’Onofrio; cherished father of Mark J. D’Onofrio and John V. D’Onofrio and his wife Martha; proud grandfather of Guillmar Torrez I., Samuel M. D’Onofrio and his wife Sydney, C. Andres Meave I. and his wife Jessica, Kyle C. D’Onofrio, Gabriella N. D’Onofrio, Julia J. D’Onofrio, and Ariana I. D’Onofrio; and adoring great-grandfather of Grace.
Joe was predeceased by his devoted parents, Joseph Mario D’Onofrio, Sr. and Josephine Marie (nee Palumbo) D’Onofrio, and his dear brother, Ronald “Ronnie” D’Onofrio, and his late wife, Betty. He is lovingly remembered by his many in-laws: Anna Dell Hartman, Mary Liberatore and her husband Ed, Elizabeth Parziale and her husband Vince, Jean Carr and her husband Bob, Edward Winter and his wife Maryanne, Anne Hayes and her husband Leon, Timothy Winter and his wife Lisa, and the late William Winter and his wife Eve, the late Catherine Willman and her late husband Skip—as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who held him dear.
With heartfelt warmth and a generous spirit, Joe was a man of great passion and boundless energy who was always willing to lend a helping hand. A devoted sports enthusiast, he proudly served as an usher supervisor at Oriole Park at Camden Yards for the Baltimore Orioles and at M&T Bank Stadium for the Baltimore Ravens. Joe found joy in life’s simple pleasures—bowling, gardening, fishing, crabbing, boating, and camping—especially the cherished moments spent with family and friends at Treasure Beach in Fenwick Island, Delaware.
Joe’s life was one of service and dedication. He honorably retired from the U.S. Coast Guard, served as a police officer for Baltimore City, was a proud gas service station business owner, retired from General Motors in Baltimore on Broening Highway and was a “Sir Worthy Knight” member in the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Gibbons Council K-C #2521. Earlier in life, he worked as a diamond cutter apprentice and was a longtime member of the Sons of Italy. Joe also took great pride in being an “Akela,” or Cub Scout pack leader, inspiring young minds with his guidance and enthusiasm.
