Green, I. Mae (Mink), passed away on May 20, 2014 at the age of 90. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Kelley Balderson of Reisterstown and Karen Kelley Gill, of Newton, MA, and her brother, the Hon. Duane E. Mink of Radford, VA, as well as four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Melvin A. Kelley Sr. of Altoona, PA, and Lt. Col. John G. Green of Petersburgh, NY.
She grew up in Norfolk, NE, and Volney, VA, and graduated from the Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, VA. She moved to Baltimore during WWII and began a career that would last 30 years as a civilian employee of the US Department of Defense, retiring as a Contract Administrator.
She was a dedicated member of several masonic organizations, serving as Worthy Matron of Gleaner Chapter #49 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Queen of Zitta Temple #27, Daughters of the Nile. All who knew her will miss her quick wit, wry sense of humor, and the twinkle in her eye. She always made time to listen, providing wise and kind counsel to many.
