Margaret H. McCauley, 92, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on 10/25/2012. She was born on February 17, 1920 and raised in McKeesport, PA. She was the wife of the late Albert McCauley, who passed away in 2002.
After moving to Baltimore in her 20s she worked for Stewart’s Department Store before moving to Culpeper, Virginia, where she resided with her first husband, Russell Morgan, Sr.
After the death of her first husband, she relocated to Overlea, MD, where she eventually re-married and resided with her husband, Albert. Margaret and Al had an indescribable love and respect for each other and were inseparable, refusing to go anywhere without the other. They were married for 38 years. They took great pride in becoming members of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Overlea.
Margaret spent most of her life as a home-maker and loved cooking for her family. “Marge”, as her husband called her, and Al, loved to explore and go for long rides in the car. More times than not, they would wind up at Charlestown Raceway to bet on the horses, or Atlantic City, to see if they could get lucky playing nickel slots. They also enjoyed the adventures that traveling on cruise ships gave to them and they made many friendships.
Margaret was creative and artistic, and would amaze her friends with her hand-made ceramics and paintings. She loved crocheting, and often won first place ribbons at the Maryland State Fair for her prize tablecloths and framed pictures of wildlife, in particular, she loved birds and dogs. She was a word-smith and excelled at crossword puzzles, often sitting under the lamp for hours until she finished. She enjoyed playing card games, always coming out the winner. A woman of many talents, she taught family members how to cook and was famous for her German Leckerli cookies at Christmas and her butter cream eggs at Easter. There wasn’t a recipe that Margaret didn’t have. She had a knack for making it all come together and her home was the gathering place for all, providing everyone with warm memories that have lasted a lifetime.
She is survived by her five children; Russell Morgan, Jr., and wife Laverne, Albert McCauley and wife Karen, Diane Mazson, Gene Morgan and his wife Julie, Sug Ward. Marge ad Al had 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one 1 great great-grandchild. She is also survived by many caring nieces, nephews and friends.
Margaret was predeceased by brothers, Carl, Trevor and George of Florida.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her in her remaining years. They will receive friends from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Lassahn Funeral Home, 7401 Belair Road (Overlea). Funeral will be Thursday, November 1, at 10 am. Interment Gardens of Faith.
Donations may be offered to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 10 Willow Ave., Baltimore, MD 21206.
