Marie E. Sasse' (Black)

On February 22, 2023 Marie Estelle Black Sasse', age 82, passed from this life after a long illness. Born November 15, 1940 to Henry R. and Rebecca (Wisnom) Black in Baltimore, MD. Marie spent her early years in Walbrook, then moved with her family to Parkville. She graduated from Western High School with honors in 1958. She obtained her teaching degree in 1962 from then Western Maryland College. She later completed her Master’s Degree at Loyola College in Towson, MD. Marie taught 30+ years for the Baltimore County Board of Education at Carney Elementary. After her retirement she continued to volunteer at Carney helping students with reading. Marie was very involved at Hiss UMC for many years as well as The Three Arts Club, PEO College Club and AAUW.

Marie's husband, Ronald A. Sasse' preceeded her in death. She is survived by her sister Jean Black Garver, her niece Lisa Miller Utz and nephews Charles and William Miller, her step-daughter Christine A. Heisey and husband Cory, step-grandchildren Allison, Rachael and Matt Heisey and two devoted cousins Diane & Don Waters, Betty & Howard Bolling.

Friends and family are invited to the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc., 7401 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD 21236 on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 12:00 - 2:00 PM , internment following at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
