Maxine Freda Seyboth (Oberender)

Maxine, age 94, passed into the arms of her Savior on June 24, 2024, at the Brightview Senior Living Facility, Mays Chapel, MD.

Born on July 15, 1929, Maxine spent much of her life in Baltimore County (Overlea, Towson, Timonium). She was a graduate of Kenwood High School in 1946, then worked as an executive secretary at C&P Telephone Company for ten years, up until her first child was born. She then embraced her role as wife and mother.

Maxine was a very active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Overlea where she was born, baptized, confirmed, met and then in 1954 married the love of her life, the late Donald Seyboth.

Maxine lived her life to the fullest, and was known for her positive personality, generosity, and common sense. She was a devoted wife and mother, always available to care for family and help friends in their time of need. She enjoyed entertaining/hosting parties (featuring crabs when in season), dining out, reading, playing cards with family and friends, caring for her home and back yard, and ice cream!

Maxine loved to travel and take road trips. She and Don had been to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Great Britain, Scandinavia, China, and cruised the Caribbean many times; her favorites being the Alaskan cruise and China. When Don could no longer board a plane due to his Parkinson’s, they purchased a condo in Ocean City, MD, which they enjoyed weeks at a time year-round for many years, until she could no longer care for Don at home. She faithfully spent many hours every day at his side during his remaining years at the Genesis Nursing Home.

Maxine loved people and enjoyed spending time with family and her many cherished friends. She thought only of others and kept in touch, often preparing greeting cards to send for every occasion or just to say, thinking of you. During her last years at Brightview, when she could no longer drive and purchase cards, she’d kept in touch by calling. She was loved by all at Brightview, often passing on her pastries and desserts to caring staff members.

Maxine is survived by daughter Cheryl Powrie and husband Stephen; son Dr. Clark Seyboth and wife Rachel, and granddaughter Halie A. Seyboth; brothers David Oberender and wife Alice, and Richard Oberender; and sister-in-laws Lois Oberender, and Jean Long and husband William. She was wife of the late Donald Seyboth (56 years), the daughter of the late Alvin and Beatrice (nee Deuchler) Oberender, and sister of the late Alvin Oberender, Jr.

The family will receive friends at the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc. located at 7401 Belair Road in Overlea on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
