Mercedes Barbara West passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mercedes was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John William West, who passed away in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Richard Johnson, George Johnson, and Edward Jacque Johnson; her sisters Rita Skinner and Kathleen Cook; and numerous members of both the Johnson and West families.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Helen Johnson; sister-in-law Dorthy West, wife of the late James Edward West; brother-in-law John Pratt West and his wife, Charlotte West; as well as her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones. Among those who will remember her are nephews Mark Johnson and David Johnson, along with many nieces and nephews of the West family. She was also preceded in death by her niece Hillary Skinner.

Mercedes's memory will be cherished by her family, who will carry forward the love, memories, and special moments they shared with her throughout her life.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Crest Senior Living Chapel, 8820 Walther Boulevard, Parkville, MD 21234.A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at the Oak Crest Senior Living Chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
