Norman John Kahl

Norman John “Butch” Kahl passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his wife Cindy. Butch was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, whose legacy of love and kindness will be cherished forever.

Beloved husband of 51 years to Cynthia “Cindy” Jean (nee Gyr) Kahl, Butch was the devoted son of the late Norman Frederick and Angela Emma (nee Raab) Kahl. He was a loving brother to Angela Orem (and her late husband, Cliff), Helen Winkler (and her husband, Link), Tom Kahl (and his wife, Joy), Linda Soistman (and her husband, Kris), and Mike Kahl (and his wife, Sharon).

He was also a treasured brother-in-law to Marvin Gyr, Jr. (and his wife Beverly) and Terri Gyr, as well as a beloved uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Butch leaves behind a host of dear friends who will remember him fondly.

An avid outdoorsman, Butch found joy in the simple pleasures of life—working the land, farming on the Eastern Shore, hunting, fishing, and crabbing and enjoyed his work with Gray & Son. He was a proud member of Ducks Unlimited and cherished the beauty and serenity of nature. Butch and Cindy shared a passion for traveling, embarking on cruises to explore breathtaking destinations and create lasting memories together.

Friends and family are invited to honor Butch’s life at the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc., located at 7401 Belair Road in Overlea. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by interment at Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or the ALS Association (www.als.org). These causes were close to Butch’s heart and offer a way to honor his memory by helping others in need.

The Kahl family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, love, and support received during this time of sorrow. Butch’s legacy of love, kindness, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
