On May 6, 2026, Ronald Daniel Peterson peacefully passed away surrounded by the unwavering love of his devoted family, who lovingly held his hands and comforted him as he entered eternal rest. Ron was a man whose gentle spirit, loving heart, and deep devotion to his family touched the lives of all who were blessed to know him.

Ron was the beloved husband and best friend for ten beautiful and loving years to Mary Ann (nee Collins) Marks. Together they shared a life filled with laughter, companionship, unwavering support, and countless cherished memories. Mary Ann and Ron had been inseparable since the very day they met, and their relationship was truly a blessing to them both. Their love radiated throughout the family and was evident to everyone who knew them.

He was a devoted and loving father to Anthony Peterson and Glen Peterson and his wife Stephanie, whom Ron loved and cherished as a daughter. He was an incredibly proud and adoring grandfather to Victoria “Princess” Peterson and Andrew “Chief” Peterson, who brought immeasurable joy, pride, and light into his life. Ron’s greatest happiness came from spending time with his grandchildren. He treasured attending all of their events, from sports games and musical performances to special sleepovers and countless treasured moments together. As he dedicated so much love and time to his grandchildren, their friends quickly learned how wonderful he was, and before long, Ron lovingly became “Granddad” to all the children who adored visiting and spending time with him.

Ron honorably served the citizens of Baltimore for 30 dedicated years as a K-9 Officer with the Baltimore Police Department before retiring in 1998. His commitment to helping others, protecting his community, and serving with integrity reflected the selfless nature that defined his entire life. In retirement, Ron enjoyed working as a guest services officer at Hollywood Casino Perryville, where he met Mary Ann and where their beautiful love story first began.

Ron was the cherished brother of Helen Peterson and a beloved uncle to Donna Rooney, Shelly Clark, Christopher Chesnakas, Cheryl McCadden, and Karen Soellner. He is also survived by many loving cousins, dear friends, and all those whose lives were forever enriched by his kindness, warmth, humor, and generosity.

His family described Ron as endlessly giving, thoughtful, compassionate, and completely selfless. He was always the very first to arrive at every family gathering and the very last to leave, simply because being surrounded by those he loved brought him so much happiness. The love he gave so freely and the countless ways he cared for others can never truly be measured. His contribution to the lives of his family and friends will forever remain immeasurable.

Among the many treasured memories shared by Ron and his family was the trip of a lifetime to Atlantis Paradise Island, where Ron and Mary Ann gathered alongside Glen and Stephanie as they exchanged their wedding vows. It was a beautiful and unforgettable week filled with love, laughter, and memories that the family will cherish forever.

Ron will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal brother, treasured uncle, and faithful friend. Though their hearts are deeply broken, his family finds comfort in knowing that his love will continue to surround them always. He will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A., 11750 Belair Road in Kingsville on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at which time a Prayer Service reflecting Ron’s selfless and loving life will be celebrated by all who knew and loved him. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of kindness, love, prayers, and support extended to them during this difficult time.
