On April 12, 2023, Samuel Edward Hawkins Jr. passed away, beloved husband of the late Hilda A. Hawkins (nee Van Rossum); devoted father of Laura H. Strachan and her husband Glenn, Linda M. Stephens and her husband Mark, Dr. S. Edward Hawkins III and his wife Kate, and Caroline A. Scelsi and her husband Andrew; and 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and his niece Della Mae Strobel.
The family will receive friends at the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc., 7401 Belair Road (Overlea) on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, and Thursday, April 20, 2023, 3-5 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1100 Philadelphia Road (Joppa) on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 11 am. Entombment Parkwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Baltimore Museum of Industry at www.thebmi.org.
