The Reverend James "Jay" L. Dement

On March 19, 2019, The Rev. James “Jay” L. DeMent, went to be with the Lord; beloved husband of Chris DeMent, devoted father of Amanda Heinemann and her husband Terry, and the late Amie Christine, Angela Lynn and James Ryan DeMent; loving poppy of Gavin, Logan and Keagan Heinemann; son of the late James E. DeMent; brother of the late Judy DeMent; also survived by his beloved dog “Bandit”; Jay was a beloved husband, father, poppy and pastor who always made sure you knew “You matter and what you do matters.”

A celebration of life will be held at Salem United Methodist Church, 7901 Bradshaw Road, Upper Falls, MD 21156 on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, it was Pastor Jay’s wish that donations may be made to an education fund to be established for his grandsons, in C/O Judy Jones at Salem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 192, Upper Falls, MD 21156.
