Thomas George Eckhardt passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Tom lived a life rooted in love, dedication, and quiet strength.
Tom was the beloved husband of 65 years to Elaine A. (nee Wild) Eckhardt, the love of his life and constant companion. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love and partnership. Elaine affectionately called him “my honey,” a simple phrase that captured the deep bond they shared.
He was a proud and loving father to Tom Eckhardt and his wife Laura, Gregory Eckhardt, Kristie Winand and her husband Brian. Tom was a cherished grandfather to Ashley Britos and her husband Juan, Brandon Winand and his fiancée Hannah, and Madison Winand, and a devoted great-grandfather to Lincoln and Gage Hammer. He is also survived by his dear sister, Joan Booz, as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his late brothers-in-law, Harold Scherr, Christian Wild, and Don Booz.
Tom found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved reading, camping, crabbing, growing vegetables, and spending time outdoors, but nothing meant more to him than time spent with his family. Sharing family meals was of great importance, providing opportunities for heartfelt laughter and the creation of special moments together. These gatherings were often filled with stories and fond memories, particularly when Tom reflected on his experiences serving in the navy. The warmth and joy found in these times became treasured parts of family life. Family always came first, and his love and presence were a steady source of comfort and strength to those around him.
Tom will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, quick wit, and a wonderfully dry sense of humor that often-caught people off guard but always left them smiling. He had an unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy of love lives on in the many lives he touched; he made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him and he will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends at the E.F. Interment will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
