It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Cole Weichseldorfer on March 6, 2025. Walter was a devoted husband, a cherished father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering dedication to his family and country.
Walter was the beloved husband of Susan Ann (née Schisler) Weichseldorfer, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. He was a devoted and loving father to Louis Weichseldorfer and his wife Amy, and Laura Weichseldorfer and her husband Paul Scampone. His greatest joy was his cherished granddaughter, Kirsten Weichseldorfer, who brought immense happiness to his life.
Walter’s life was enriched by the love of his extended family, including his brother- and sister-in-laws: Jerry Schisler and his wife Sandy, Robert Schisler and his wife Ruby, Barbara Bollinger and her husband Phil, Janice Creasy and her husband Michael, and Dan Heavrin, along with his late sister-in-law, Nancy Heavrin. He was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews who he adored. Walter shared a special bond with his cousin, Albert Vogel, who was like a brother to him, and he treasured the lifelong friendship of Wayne Bertholdt.
Walter was predeceased by his loving parents, Max Weichseldorfer and Mabel (née Cole) Weichseldorfer, whose values of integrity, kindness, and perseverance he carried throughout his life.
A proud Vietnam Veteran, Walter honorably served his country in the United States Army, a chapter of his life he held in great esteem. Following his military service, he built a long and fulfilling career with Baltimore Gas & Electric (BG&E), where he formed lasting friendships and a reputation for his hard work and dedication.
Walter had a deep love for life’s simple joys—he was an avid fan of football and hockey, enjoyed vacationing in Wildwood, New Jersey, and found comfort in the timeless music of Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. He was a true enthusiast of classic films, especially those starring John Wayne. His regular luncheons with his BG&E friends at Mission BBQ were moments he cherished, as were his favorite meals, especially rockfish.
Walter’s warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. Though he has left this world, his spirit will remain in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
A graveside service will be held at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 11:30am.
In honor of Walter’s dedication and service, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) (www.dav.org) to support the brave men and women who have served our country.
The Weichseldorfer family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Walter’s memory will forever be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
