Hoss Cartwright
Yesterday at Ponderosa Ranch·
Over 94 years ago a special man was born on a farm,
His name was John Burton Schneider of Glen Arm.
From the time he was a very small boy,
Raising rabbits gave him much joy.
On the farm he'd work each day,
That is where he wished to stay.
With sweat from his brow and his 2 hands,
He built his own home with wood from his land.
He loved the springtime & planting crops,
He liked eating polk along with his pork chops.
He'd watch the seeds each season sprout,
From the soil as the plants would rise out.
Behind his team of mules he'd walk all day,
Then he'd go out to cut some more hay.
Six days a week he'd work his land,
On Sunday he'd rest because of God's command.
Six sons and one daughter were the joy of his life,
With all of his heart he loved Louise his wife.
Back with old friends & family he has now gone,
Reunited in Heaven he will live on.
