Obituary for Sally Ann Faber (Joost)

Sally Ann Faber was born Sally Ann Joost in Santa Ana, California on October 29, 1928 to the late Henry Joost and the late Edna Joost (nee Fisher). She passed away December 15, 2014 at the age of 86. Sally was the younger of two daughters, her sister being the late Emily Sterling.
Her early years found her active as a flutist and a drum majorette. She was involved in Latin, Spanish clubs and sports events. She managed to be a member of the Honor Society. In her senior year of high school, she met her future husband Gene Faber upon his return from serving in WWII.
She attended Los Angeles City College studying pre-med in anticipation of following in the footsteps of her uncle, the late George Joost, who was a member of the coveted International College of Surgeons. Her marriage to Eugene Faber disrupted her education while opening the door to life as the wife of a military man and all it entailed. With children in tow, she lived in California, Florida, France, Maryland, New Mexico and traveled extensively throughout the U.S and Europe.
An interest lay in animals, especially birds, but her immense love was reserved for her children. She was every child’s dream of a mother, one could not ask for more. She was Mother of the Year every year. Due to Gene’s military service to our country, Sally often found herself in the role of single parent, a duty she fulfilled with zeal.
Selina was her devoted Christian care giver for the final three years of Sally’s life with time-off help provided by Selina’s Aunt Gladys. Both were true blessings.
Sally is survived by her six children: Larry, Robert, James, Catherine, Patricia and John, their loving spouses, seventeen grandchildren, their loving spouses and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Monday, December 22, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kingsville, MD.
