David

David and I were good friends and he was one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever met. David and I were teachers at the same school and when he started working there, we barely said more than hi to each other. But one day, while I was setting up for a play with my students, David came in with a few of his students and started helping me set up the chairs for the play. He did this without anyone asking for help. He did this because he saw a need and filled it; regardless that the need was from someone he barely knew. I recall being so shocked by his immediate generosity, especially because we barely ever spoke. When the play was over, again without anyone asking, he helped me to stack up the chairs, put them back, and take down the decorations. He then walked out the room not even expecting a thank you. I thanked him so much that day anyway, and he responded as if the only option was to help me because I needed it. Even though it may seem like such a small event, it helped me to understand what kind of person he was and set the precedent for the two year friendship that followed. David not only helped me with anything, but my friends as well. He was my support, my company, and my friend when I needed one the most. His ability and willingness to help anyone in need amazed me and I am a better person because of his constant friendship and support. I will miss him with all of my heart.
